Takashin is a locally owned authentic sushi spot in Palm Springs, we found them due to Yelp and were glad we did! The nigiri was fresh, the Japanese wagyu was tasty too, and we especially liked the large selection of regional Japanese sake. The chef was very friendly and we enjoyed it for a weekend dinner. I would say the fish is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Would recommend Takashin if you're feeling fishy in Palm Springs

Sushi is not something I usually crave when I am in the desert, but I saw a lot of positive feedback for Takashin. It is tucked away in a corner of the Villa Soleil Apartments, but there is plenty of street parking along Palm Canyon Drive. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They also were knowledgeable about the menu, which I noticed right away, especially when they have monthly specials. Things ordered: + Takashin Ceviche ($20), a very refreshing appetizer + Toro sushi ($12.50 each), it was super fresh and delicious + Sea Urchin sushi from California ($10 each), ordered this since the uni from Japan was out, this was quality uni + Sweet Shrimp sushi ($10.50 each), this was really good + Scallops sushi from Japan ($6 each), fresh and had great garnish + Whitefish Yuzu ($31), it reminded me of carpaccio and was good + Chilean Sea Bass Miso Yaki ($27), it was okay I really liked this establishment. It was not cramped, there is a sushi bar, and the vibes were good.

I keep coming back. Very authentic Japanese cuisine with excellent choices of hard to find sashimi. They also have a serious Sake collection. It's pricey though. So it's a trade off. Real Japanese good for serious cheddar

Sushi: By FAR the best in Coachella valley! I love uni, and it's the first time I've seen a restaurant serve both US and Japanese uni. Of course I ordered both and compared (& liked the Japanese uni better.) Service: Perfect. Attentive without being obsequious. Ambiance: A little cold, with too much overhead lighting, but we sat at the sushi bar and had a great rapport with the sushi chef. Price: Oh my. It's the only reason my review isn't 5 stars. I've never before eaten a sushi dinner where I limited myself because of price, but I did at Takashin. You get what you pay for, they say, and the sushi was awesome, but I won't be going back often because of the prices.
